NO DRINKING ON THE JOB.

Early February 2023, I was offered the opportunity of taking a stab at social media management for Wye Hill Brewing alongside friend and co-worker, Melanie Wiesen. Wye Hill Brewing is the brewery division of Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing, winner of Raleigh Magazine’s Best Patio Bar in 2022, and also where I’ve been serving tables for almost two years now.

Being in the service industry since high school, working each summer at a family-owned ice cream parlor as well as a traditional Italian restaurant during college, it’s safe to say that understanding the selling points of a restaurant comes naturally at this point.

With that knowledge coupled with my passion to both create and share, accepting this offer from owners Sara and Chris was a new challenge to myself to see if I could execute social media marketing strategies on a more professional level. Before this, my creatives focus had primarily been in the realm of entertainment videography with an emphasis on music, performances, and night life.

However, handling the social media for Wye Hill Brewing proved to be fruitful as sales numbers suggest that Wye Hill social efforts are moving in a successful direction. Our 16oz. beer sales increased and we saw the second-highest month of 4-pack to-go beers this past February, although considered one of the slowest months of the year in overall sales.

I hope to continue making progress with my Wye Hill marketing efforts and that my creativity continues to be utilized and appreciated.
